Editor’s note: It’s been a very busy few months for me, resulting in a very quiet few months here. Sorry about that. Long story short, got laid off, spent time looking for a new job, started pouring time into house projects and writing for a bit, got a new job and have been plowing massive amounts of energy into that. Plus side, I quite like my new job and it is very engaging; down side, it eats most of my energy and by the time I get home I am not great at stringing words together, even now three months in.
So, it was really lucky for me that a few weeks ago my dissertation chair and friend Dan Klein wrote up a short essay based on part of my dissertation, and wanted to put my name on it, too. We worked on it a bit more together, and today it went up live over at Adam Smith Works. Here’s the link, and I hope you find it interesting! I also hope to get some sleep and write up a few things over the July 4th long weekend.
THE WELFARE STATE IS DEVOID OF GENEROSITY
Thanks everyone!
I found the final point in the essay particularly insightful in demonstrating why language matters.
